The Lady Defenders opened the defense of their 42nd District
title in convincing fashion Tuesday evening, as they hosted the
opening round of the 2009 KHSAA volleyball tournament. The hosts
came out focused on the task at hand and rode strong serving,
accurate passing, and an array of powerful attacks from all
quarters of their front line past Berea in a pair of efficient
25-5 sets. The Lady Pirates competed gamely, but had no
effective answer for Bryan Station's potent blend of offense and
teamwork.
The Defenders move on to tonight's, (Wed.), 7:30 championship
game against Madison Central, winners of the evening's second
game over Madison Southern. The Championship will be a rematch
of last years finals as these two familiar foes renew their
rivalry for the third time this season in search of District 42
bragging rights. Station has come out on top in both of this
season's previous meetings, but all games have been hotly
contested and the Indians can be counted on to not concede
anything. Our ladies will need to maintain their focus and come
out ready to Defend their title. They need and deserve our
support. Please plan to come out and cheer them on in what will
be their last home appearance of the year. Good Luck Ladies!!!
