The Bryan Station
Lady Defenders traveled a long, but winning road last night to
close out their regular season in Somerset, helping the Lady
Maroons of Pulaski Co. celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month
with a "Pink Out". The host Maroons provided pink jerseys for
both teams and honored those who have fought and are still
fighting breast cancer with a ceremony before the varsity game.
The visiting Defender's appreciation for their hosts'
hospitality did not extend to the court however, as they quickly
took control of the rest of the volleyball proceedings for the
evening. Following the lead of the Freshman and JV teams, who
had already won their matches, each in two games, the Varsity
went out and rewarded the faithful family members and supporters
who had made the trip with their own 2-0 victory, (25-18,25-17),
and an early start for a long but happy drive home; ...and it
had stopped raining! Bryan Station finished their regular
season on the upswing, winning their last 5 games, 13 of their
last 14, and with the look of a team well prepared to open the
defense of their District 42 title at Bryan Station next Tuesday
against Berea when the Defenders go after their THIRD
STRAIGHT KHSAA District Championship.
Good Luck, Ladies!!!! Thanks for a great season... but they're
not quite ready to stop playing volleyball just yet!
P.S. In the previous account of the Woodford Co. game, I
misspelled the name of defensive specialist Megan Hoovler. My
apologies to Megan and her family. I trusted the roster listed
on the KHSAA website. My mistake.
