Upcoming Events @ BSHS

Free H1N1 Shots for BSHS Families :  On Thursday, Feb. 4th, the Health Department will be offering free H1N1 vaccinations (injection or nasal mist) to BSHS students and staff.  In order to receive the vaccination, students must have a signed consent form on file.  Consent forms must be turned in to the front office prior to Feb. 4th.  Consent forms and additional information are available on FCPS web site.


Important Information/Meetings

Baseball Tryouts:  There will be a very important informational meeting about baseball tryouts on Feb. 12th in the Field House.  High school students should attend at 3:45.  Middle school students should attend at 4:30.  Please have your physical ready to turn in on the 12th if you haven't already done so.

Softball Tryouts:  Softball tryouts will be Monday, February 15th at the Hitting Facility. (Weather Permitted)  There will be a mandatory meeting for all parents and softball players that make the team on Tuesday, February 16th at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria.  

Weather Make-Up Days:  As of Jan. 12, 2010, students have two days to make up due to winter weather.  School will now be in session Feb. 12, 2010 and March 5, 2010.  The original calendar called for students to be off on the above days, but designated them as "possible weather make-up days."  Students and staff will now be in school on Feb. 12th and March 5th.

Join the PTSA:  The PTSA is a great way for parents, teachers, students, and alumni to connect and be a positive impact at Bryan Station High School. The 2009-2010 BSHS PTSA Membership Drive continues to grow.  It's not too late to join!  For more information visit the PTSA website.

IT Academy Applications for 2010-2011:  The deadline for applications for the Academy of Information Technology was Oct. 15, 2009.  However applications are still be accepted.  For more information about the Academy and the application process, visit the information page.

Special Software Pricing for Students/Staff:  Special pricing on Microsoft Office and other software is available for students and staff.  Visit the online store on KDE's website for ordering information.


Good News @ BSHS

Scholastic Ball Report:  The girl's basketball team will be featured on Saturday, Jan. 23rd on the Scholastic Ball Report on WKYT.  Host Gary Ball will interview the team leaders and Coach Karra Jackson.

BSHS Reflections Goes to State:  The three BSHS students (including Marylynne Anderson-Cooper and Shawntez Taylor) who recently won 1st place in the categories of Literature, Visual Art, Photography, and Dance Choreography in the BSHS PTSA Reflections contest, have also won either 1st or 2nd place in their categories at the district level.  The work of these students will now be forwarded for competition in the State PTSA Reflections contest.  Great job and good luck!

BSHS Awarded at KYA:  Twenty-two BSHS student attended KYA - a model Kentucky legislature program held in Louisville and sponsored by the YMCA.  The group received compliments on their speaking and their "presence" in chambers.  Additionally, students were awarded in the following areas:
   *The BSHS freshmen bill passed both chambers.
   *Students who participated in the Model Supreme Court won their case.
   *One student received an outstanding speaker award.
   *Another student was elected as next year's Speaker of the House.

Science Department Grant:  Congratulations to the BSHS Science Dept who recently received a $25,000 grant from a gracious donor.  The awards ceremony was held at Bryan Station on Nov. 18, 2009.
