Battle of the Belts: Parents, our school is participating in the Battle of the Belts seat belt awareness program during the week of May 12th. Our school’s seat belt usage rate from our recent count is 56%. That means that 44% of our students were NOT wearing seat belts. Please remind your child to buckle up-it could save his/her life.

FBLA Winner: Congratulations to Belicia Palmer who competed at the Future Business Leaders of America State Conference in Public Speaking I.  She received third place and has now qualified to compete at the FBLA National Conference.

Governor's Scholars: Congratulations to the following students for being selected to participate in the Governor's Scholars program this summer:  Laura Edwins, Lizzie Engel, Josh Lawson, William Waun, Caroline White.

Prom 2008: Tickets for prom will be on sale in the cafeteria during all lunches beginning May 1st through May 9th.  Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple.  Only BSHS juniors or seniors may purchase tickets.  Click here for more information about prom and the prom guidelines.  Download the prom permission form to request permission for non-BSHS students to attend.

SBDM Parent Elections: Congratulations to the following parents who were elected to the 2008-2009 BSHS SBDM Council.  The elected representatives are Mary Arthur, Tim Guthrie, Scott White, and Marlene Black-Johnson.

National Merit Participants: Congratulations to Zachary Davis, Laura Edwins, and Jeremy Kline!  Their 2007 PSAT scores met the requirements to enter the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.  These students are among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants out of 1.5 million program entrants.  These students have been invited to be referred to two colleges or universities in the U.S. in which they are interested. 

Defender Night at the Legends: Buy your tickets now for Defender Night at the Legends on May 15th.   Tickets are only $8 and can be purchased in the YSC or office.  All students, parents, teachers and alumni are invited to attend.

Graduation Dates Set: Graduation for Bryan Station High School will be on Monday, June 2nd at 4:00 pm at Rupp Arena.  Click here to see dates for all high schools.

Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership: The Prichard Committee is sponsoring a Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership that will be focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).   For more information on this free opportunity, click here.  The deadline to apply has been extended to May 15th.
